In 2003 Cynthia was a participant in the O’Neill Theater Critics Institute in Connecticut, and for the past 14 years she has served as Theater Reviewer for the newspapers Heritage, San Diego Jewish World (for which she serves as L.A. County Bureau Chief and has a weekly bylined column titled L.A. Beat), the Santa Monica Daily Press, where her weekly column is titled Play Time, the national daily L.A. Stage Times, the national Examiner, and the national website ReviewPlays.com. From 2002 to 2006 she was featured monthly as theater reviewer on the Ira Fistell Show on KABC Radio, and she currently tapes a biweekly audio podcast for AIRSLA.org that is also available through iTunes.

Cynthia has lived and worked on every continent except Antarctica as a journalist, public relations and communications director, documentary screenwriter and theater reviewer.

She was Director of Publications at Boston University, serving as editor of Bostonia, the University’s award-winning alumni magazine; an associate vice president for Public Affairs of the University of Hartford; Communications Director for CARE, the international relief and development agency; and, in Los Angeles, Public Relations Director for City of Hope. At Boston University she also served as public relations director for the School for the Arts, which included the School of Theater Arts, the School of Music, and the School of Visual Arts. She is the co-founder of Earthwatch, the scientific research expedition organization, and served as press officer and assistant to the Commissioner for the Ethiopian National Pavilions at Expo ‘67 in Montreal and Expo ‘70 in Osaka.
